Time changes in 10 days

We are now 10 days away from having to change our clocks again.

The Sunshine Protection Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives but is stalled in the Senate and will not pass anytime soon.

Changing our clocks twice a year is detrimental. Accidents, cardiovascular events, and mental health issues reportedly increase right after the change, likely because of the disruption to sleep patterns.

After the last clock change, I announced that I was done. My reasoning was that if we are going to be on Standard Time for only 4.5 months, why bother? If I don't change my clocks, my phone will still have the correct time.

My main reason for doing this is that I would rather not change my sleep schedule.

If we were to adopt Daylight Saving Time year-round, sunrise would occur as late as 9 a.m. here in Columbus, Indiana, which seems like a bad idea.

For at least a decade, I have advocated adopting "Compromise Time," where we set our clocks halfway between Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time and never change them again.
