Rick Santorum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Opposition to contraception and the "right to privacy"

Santorum has stated that he does not believe a "right to privacy" is part of the Constitution; he has been critical of the Supreme Court decision inGriswold v. Connecticut (1965), which held that the Constitution guaranteed that right, and overturned a law prohibiting the sale and use of contraceptives to married couples.[137] He has described contraception as "a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be,"[138] and stated in 2003 that laws should exist against polygamy, adultery, sodomy, and other actions "antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family" since they were harmful to society.[131]
