I am inclined to agree. It can't be any worse than what we have now.
This is a lengthy video, but the bottom line is that the Senate was originally designed to represent the interests of the states, serving as a counterbalance to the House of Representatives, which represents the people. Since our government was founded on a system of checks and balances, having institutions with different interests makes it less likely that extremist ideas or factions will gain complete control.
Many people may disagree with this, but the goal should be to have less power in the federal government. Making the Senate accountable to the states shifts some power back to the states.
